How to Make Steak and Gravy in a Crock Pot

Aunt Lou here.

So we all know that in this house we are suckers for a great deal on meat. Well, our freezer is still completely packed, so when Michael found a good deal on a flat iron steak, I needed to use it right up.

I saw this Slow Cooker Steak with Gravy recipe from Gooseberry Patch’sSpeedySlow-Cooker Recipes and was a little leery. You see, to say I am a picky eater would be quite the understatement. However, I married a human garbage disposal who loves anything and everything except peas (Go figure?). So I thought I would give it a try since it sounded like something Michael would love.

I am so very glad that I did! Roast is my all time favorite, but finding a good roast on sale is next to impossible. With this recipe, our flat iron steak tasted like a juicy, delicious roast! Mommy score!

I haven’t tried this with a different cream soup, but I think that cream of celery might work well. The flavor would change a bit, but since you don’t like mushrooms, that might not be a bad thing! If you give it a try, let me know how it turns out!

I haven’t made this with any other soup. You might try out homemade cream soup recipe. (https://www.recipesthatcrock.com/cream-soup-substitute-recipes/). If you want to try a canned soup, you might try cream of celery. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes!

I haven’t tried this with eye round steaks, but think it could work. This recipe is really good at making meat super tender. I haven’t froze this after cooking. If you give it a try, let me know how it goes. If you are asking if you can use frozen meat, health experts recommend thawing all meat before cooking in a slow cooker.

Could I substitute chuck roast in this recipe? I remember a recipe from years ago that used a roast and the same ingredients, wrapped the whole thing in foil and baked in the oven. It was so good.

Can’t honestly rate this recipe, but it looks delicious. My problem is I watched the video a few days ago, and thought I could remember it……….NOPE. I have it in the crock pot now backwards (onion soup packet and the canned soup). I don’t know why it wouldn’t taste the same. Here’s hoping.
